Travel Diversity
Namibia is on the south-west side of the African continent. Its borders are the Atlantic Ocean and Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana to the east and South Africa to the south and east.
African Nature
Most of Namibia is made up of desert. Namibia is home to Sossuvlei, meaning “the gathering place of water” so in you’re mind you might have a picture of a beautiful place with maybe a wonderful dam or river but unfortunately that isn’t true. It’s more like the driest place.
Soosuvlei is actually huge sand dunes with not a drop of water in site. Sossuvlei has sand dunes that have been rated some of the largest in the world. Maybe go and take a look as these monstrous sand dunes. Beside the country been really dry, it still has the Atlantic Ocean as a border. Walvis Bay has a lot on offer from dolphin cruises to a walk along the lagoon. Namibia has a different taste for ever adventurous tourist. Namibia is also home to Swakopmund here you can quad-bike, sand board, sand ski or even parasail over the beautiful sand formations. The Last attraction I want to talk about is the Fish River Canyon. The Fish River Canyon is a great hiking destination, with many hiking trails. Most of the hikes are not for the out of shape person as some take up to 4 days to complete. With saying that I’m really sure that is would be really worth it to go on such a hike. The adventure one could have the views, the experience and the utter beauty of all of it.
General Information
The main languages spoken in Namibia are English, Afrikaans, German and Indigenous languages. Namibia uses the Namibian Dollar as there currency and the South African Rand. Namibia has a desert climate making it hot and dry.
World Heritage Site
Twyfelfontein is Namibia’s only world heritage site. Twyfelfontein is home to about 2000 figures of rock carvings. The figures were of wildlife animals, elephants, rhinos, giraffes. Dating back to over 1000 years ago, the indigenous people of Namibia created these figures as part of their rituals.

Namibia is a special country, a country filled with many gems
Home to the oldest desert in the world and at the same time making room for one of the longer stretches of coast line on the continent, Namibia lies on the south western side of Africa. Nestled in between the South Atlantic Ocean, South Africa, Botswana, Angola and even stretching to Zambia and Zimbabwe through the Caprivi Strip, this is truly a country worth visiting.
Windhoek
Experience the history of Namibia and buy all your souvenirs at the many craft stalls as you visit the capital Windhoek. From here it is easy to rent a car or book a tour to see the rest of the country. Weather wise the best time to visit is during May to September, if you are staying inland and October to March for visiting the coast. Also keep in mind to consult your travel doctor regarding Malaria when traveling further north.
Game Parks
Boasting no less than 17 game parks and loads of other outdoor activities Namibia offers something for every kind of traveler. Visit world renowned game park Etosha and see over a hundred different mammal species including Lions and Elephants. Camping at one of the three camps inside the parks starting at R300 per stand sleeping between 1 and 8 people. Or choose one of the camp sites like Etosha Safari Camp only 10km’s away from the park where camping starts at R50 per person.
Travel
Another must-see stop is Swakopmund as it is easy to enter the Namib dessert from there and get you adrenalin fix with dune boarding, skydiving and hiking right on your doorstep. When traveling through the Namib Desert keep a look out for the ‘living fossil’, the Welwitschia plant with leaves stretching up to two and a half meters! There are many self-catering accommodation options in the area one of which is Villa Wiese starting with dorms at R165.
